Abstract
Cooperative learning is characterized with cooperation between individuals with different background in one group to discuss or to solve problem together. The objective of research was to find out the 5th graders of Elementary schools perception on cooperative learning in mathematic learning. Cooperative learning has many variations. The cooperative learning models applied in this study were Think Pair Share (TPS) and Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD). The subject of research consisted of students in 6 Elementary Schools. This study was a descriptive qualitative research. Techniques of collecting data used were observation, interview, and documentation. The conclusion of research showed that there were positive and negative perceptions on cooperative learning among the students, with positive perception being more dominant. It indicated that learning model could be used as an alternative to innovative learning in mathematics learning, particularly in the 5th grade of Elementary School.
