Abstract
This article focus on generalizing numbers by using patterns has development of algebraic thinking. Patterns as one of the any components are tools to maintain the students to think from arithmetic to algebraic. The examination of numerical patterns can be presented with the help of visualization, by using images or geometry, aimed to assisting students in developments their sensitivity of generalizations. Student is given patterns of any objects that including visualization of colour images. The student predicted the next tribes of a recurring pattern. Students gave a strategy to predict any tribes from repetitive patterns. Then student tried to evaluate what the relationship between the numbers. The steps of these studies will be extensive to development algebraic thinking in formal symbolization. By using patterns as generalization could help students in learning although it was not directly learning algebra.
