Abstract
Algebra is a part of material fundamental that students have to learn. Algebra has a great contribution in the development of science and technology. This meaning that algebra is an important material for students. In many articles have been discussed about the abilities and difficulties of junior high school students in studying algebra. This paper discusses the ability of junior high school students to study core algebraic ideas on fractional numbers. The data were obtained from 219 students of junior high school in bandung city and its surroundings.
