Abstract
The purpose of this study is to determine: (1) Interaction between learning and Early Mathematics skill to increase students mathematical literacy. (2) Improvement of mathematical literacy ability of students who get the generative learning model is significantly higher than that obtained by conventional learning. This type of research is quasi-experiment with nonequivalent control group design. The population in this study are students who were enrolled in one junior high school students, in Yogyakarta, with a sample of students of class VIII A as an experimental class and students of class VIII B as a control class. The research instrument used are a test (pretest-posttest), learning instrument in the form of lesson plan, and Student Activity Sheet. Data analysis techniques in this study using parametric statistics in the form of two-way ANOVA test and t-test. The results showed that: (1) There is no interaction between learning and Early Mathematics skill on improving students mathematical literacy skills. (2) Increasing the ability of the students mathematical literacy to obtain the generative learning model is significantly higher than that of obtaining conventional learning.
