Students Profile of Problem Solving Skill in Physical Optics

Abstract

Students are often get academic problems in school. One of the reason might caused by the lack quality of lesson process that done by the teachers. In this research, researcher will show that students outcome is not only influenced by the teaching method, but also influenced by students problem solving skill. Some of the earlier researchers have declared about the importances of problem solving skill. This research used observation method, which was held in a state senior high school in Cirebon. Some of eleventh grade students were being the participants of the research. Researcher got the data by giving an essay test in Physical Optics to the eleventh grade students. Some different levels of problem solving skill were identified and be the main matter in creating multirepresentation design for Physical Optics learning. Result of this research is that some of students have lack level of Problem Solving Skill. Researcher conclude that some treatment needed to increase students Problem Solving Skill. One of the treatment might be using the multirepresentation teaching method.
