Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to describe the ability of biology teacher (teaching < 2 years) on Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) and his perceptions on STEM education. The method of this study was qualitative research and the participant was one biology teacher in Farms Vocational High School Pangalengan. PCK of biology teacher was measured by asking teachers to make CoRes on wastes recycling substance then followed by interview and the perceptions of STEM Education was measured by filling the questionnaires. Data were analyzed with descriptive techniques. The study showed that biology teachers raises 5 important concepts that should be taught and focused of the material, the importance of material and student engineering design process skill, assessment of ascertaining students understanding that influence his teaching but he was not more flexible in the use of teaching strategies, knowledge that was not owned by students yet, difficulties that influence the teaching, students knowledge that influence the teaching, and the way to anticipate the lack of facilities in the school. Beside that, the biology teacher also was interested in STEM Education although according to him, his students interest in subject matter related to STEM is still considered low

Abstract

Today the use of ICT has been common for various elements of society. In fact, children of early age and elementary school are proficient not only in using these digital devices, but utilize it to surf in the virtual word. This is in line with the development of school infrastructure that provides and or involves computers in learning. For a long time, many universities have used ICT in lectures, both as learning media and lectures conducted in the form of e-learning. If university students, including elementary school teacher candidates, are familiar with e-learning, how is the perception of elementary school teachers who are familiar with using of computer toward e-learning? Questionnaires were given to 55 elementary school teachers, who were able to operate computers, randomly selected to describe e-learning concept that they understood and applied. Although the majority of them mention e-learning specifically as learning involving computers in their implementation, and assuming they have implemented e-learning, they basically apply blended learning. Computers used as a complementary medium, not the main. Through the results of the survey conducted, discussed gap between the perceptions of elementary school teachers believed with the actual concept of e-learning. Through the discussion also obtained a picture of how the actual application of elearning by teachers is blended learning. Suggestions on the urgency of implementing e-learning in elementary school are also included.

Abstract

Non-objective assessments and poorly-defined assessment indicators are known to be the underlying causes of behaviour assessment in the teaching and learning process. This study aims to determine whether the use of National Qualification Framework Indonesia Based Curriculum and Higher Education National Standard Behaviour Assessment Rubric is effective in improving the learning process. The study used 4-D model that are Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. Population was students of STKIP PGRI Sumatera Barat. The subjects applied purposive sampling. The instruments were observation sheets and interview guideline. Technique of analysis was quantitative and descriptive analysis. The results show that each of observed dimensions has a significant improvement both pre-test and post-test scores where the average pre-test score is 40% and post-test score is 85%. It is conluded that National Qualification Framework Indonesia Based Curriculum and Higher Education National Standard Behaviour Assessment Rubric is effective in improving the learning outcome. It is expected that the rubric can be used as an assessment instrument to measure students competence both on affective and psychomotor aspects.

Abstract

This research objective was to create based-integrated learning tools type shared product that can applied by teacher in improve students learning result. Noted from learning tools quality which developed and validated covered syllabus, lesson plan, student work sheet, and learning result test. Integrated learning tools type shared become interesting offer in the curriculum 2013 application, due to integrated learning type shared which basically integrate two disciplines that has three common goals from concept, attitude, and skills. Since basically by combining two disciplines can be carried out in curriculum 2013 learning process, in order to be more optimal in the application so the development of integrated learning tools was applied by using scientific approach for to be able to encourage student in searching from various sources through observation and not from teacher solely. This development research method using Dick and Carey with class design (pretest-posttest group design). Statistic test result of the application of scientific based- integrated learning tools type shared showed that students learning result experienced significant improvement.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the use of scientific approach with the discovery learning model of critical thinking and problem solving skills of 4th grade elementary school students. This research is using quasi experiment method with the equivalent control group design. The subjects of the study were students of SD Lab UPI Kampus Cibiru class IV-E (control/26 students) and class IV-G (experiment/26 students). Data collection using the pretest-posttest technique. The data analysis used descriptive and inferential parametric statistics with SPSS 23 for Windows program. The pretest think critically obtained tcount (0,099) <ttable (1,677), indicating the absence of students critical thinking difference. Posttest results of critical thinking earn tcount (2.591)> ttable (1.677), indicating there is a difference of students critical thinking. The problem solving skill (Pretest) earned tcount (0.087) <ttable (1.677), indicating no difference in problem solving skills. After treatment, the problem solving skills (Posttest) obtains tcount (2,754)> ttable (1.677), indicating there are differences in student problem solving skills. Critical thinking and problem solving skills in the experimental class are higher than the control class. Based on data analysis, it was concluded that scientific approach with discovery learning model positively influenced critical thinking and problem solving skills significantly.

Abstract

The rapid technological developments bring about changes in the field of learning. The impact of technological development is the use of technology as a learning medium such as mobile learning (m-learning). The purpose of this study is to produce a m-learning product based on Moodle that has passed the stage of expert validation. This study is part of a large study that lasted for 3 years. In the first year, research is limited to only the eighth stage of the Dick and Carey learning design model, which is formative evaluation for expert validation. Expert validation involved are material experts, media experts, and design learning experts. Technique of collecting data using questioner with data analysis done by simple descriptive statistic. The subjects of the study are the students of Elementary School Teacher Education Program of Jakarta State University. The results of research in the form of products that have been through the validation stage of experts and ready to be tested into the subject of research to be conducted in the second year of research. This research has implications on the discovery of conceptual model of Moodle-based m-learning design for learning in universities.
